Turkeys are passive mobs that can be tamed.

Spawning Edit

Natural generation Edit

Turkeys naturally generate on grass blocks with 2 blocks of free space above it at light level of 9 or more. Both male and female turkeys may spawn together.

Turkeys are about 1 block tall and 1.1 or 1.2 blocks wide.

Drops Edit

Turkeys will drop 0–2 raw turkey and 0–2 feathers upon death. They drop 1–3 experience when killed by a player or a tamed wolf. They will still drop raw turkey even if set alight. The amount of raw turkey and feathers dropped can be increased by the Looting enchantment.

Behavior Edit

MovementEdit

Male and female turkeys

A group of male and female turkeys.

Turkeys are passive mobs, and will not attack you if you hit them, but will panic and randomly run around. They wander around aimlessly, gobbling occasionally. Like chickens, turkeys will follow any player holding melon seeds.

When descending from a height, turkeys will fall rather slowly; slightly slower than most mobs but faster than a chicken or duck. Turkeys are also not immune to fall damage.

Taming Edit

A turkey can be tamed by feeding them melon seeds. After giving melon seeds to a turkey, the naming screen will appear. If you wish to rename a tamed turkey, use a medallion, book, or name tag.

Turkeys can be healed by feeding them pumpkin seeds. They can also be leashed. Turkeys cannot be bred, despite having separate genders.
