Raccoons are common tamable mobs.
Natural generation Edit
Raccoons spawn on grass blocks at light levels of 9 or more with at least 2 block space above. They often spawn in groups of 4 during world generation.
Raccoons will drop 0-2 fur when killed. This can be increased by 1 per level of looting used, for a total of 1 to 5 fur with Looting III. They drop 1-3 experience when killed by a player or tamed wolf.
Raccoons are neutral mobs, and will attack you if you provoke them. They will also attack any mob that attacks them, such as a tamed wolf. They wander around aimlessly, chirping occasionally. Raccoons, among other mobs, will avoid cliffs high enough to cause fall damage, and usually stay out of water. Raccoons will also attack smaller mobs such as insects and kitties.
Raccoons are tamed by giving them any edible item, such as apples or raw meat (they can even be given rotten flesh). It only takes one such item to tame a raccoon. Once tamed, the naming screen will appear. Much like other tamable mobs, tamed raccoons will follow the player, but only in the 1.8 versions.
