Crabs are small tamable mobs that are semi-aquatic.
Natural generation Edit
Crabs spawn on beach and cold beach biomes. They often spawn in groups of 2–4 during world generation.
Crabs come in five different colors: blue, orange, green, orange-white, and orange with pink spots.
Crabs will drop 0–2 raw crab meat upon death, even when set on fire. This can be increased with the Looting enchantment. They drop 1–3 experience when killed by a player or tamed wolf.
Crabs are passive and will never attack, but they will flee when approached, and also raise their pincers when hit. They also tend to dwell in water, but they won't drown. Like insects, scorpions and spiders, crabs will take extra damage from a weapon enchanted with Bane of Arthropods. They also have the ability to scale up walls, but without the animation. Because of this ability, they may get stuck in ceilings and take damage from suffocation.
A crab can be tamed by right-clicking on the crab with a fish net. When caught and released from the fish net, the naming screen will then appear and the crab will be tamed. Like other mobs, crabs can be leashed.
Taking care of crabs Edit
Since crabs can scale up blocks, it is recommended to keep them enclosed with fence or glass blocks, along with a glass roof to prevent them escaping or suffocating in the ceiling.
